The Bellevue Arts Museum found creative ways to add informative, educational, and fun programs to this years BAM Arts Fair. We had the good fortune of being interviewed by renowned figurative sculptor, Tip Toland, who has a mini retrospective called “Tip Toland: Empathy In Clay” opening at the museum this summer. In this exclusive conversation between Jacob Foran and Tip Toland, you can here more about how Jacob and Phirak Suon got started and became a top forerunner in architectural ceramic 3d-printing. And, Tip asks Jacob to talk about his “Big Dreams” for the future.

Cascadia Art Museum in Edmonds, WA featured ForanSuon in their art museum shop during Edmonds Artwalk in June. The first in-person art exhibition since the pandemic began, we enjoyed discussing our contemporary 3d printed ceramic artwork in context of the rich history and some of the best Pacific Northwest Artists. You can find a variety of our colorful 3d-printed ceramic vases for sale in the Cascadia Art Museum Shop if you are passing through Edmonds.

While many galleries closed their doors for good during the COVID-19 pandemic, AMcE Creative Arts launched its new gallery program and Niche Market in Capitol HIll in Seattle. With a stunning first exhibition by Anne Austin Pearce, the gallery looks promising and the Niche Market offers an eclectic variety of affordable art items from Pacific Northwest Makers including a rare grouping of our 3d printed porcelain tealights in their largest size.

You can find our beautiful porcelain pottery to add ambience to your home, or use them for your favorite cactus or succulent house plants.

Here are a few of our favorite designs for summer to elevate your home.

In closing, we thank you for your purchases throughout the past year on our online shop! Your shopping keeps us going so we can design new and inspired 3d-printed pottery for you for many years ahead. Thank you, and have a great summer!

ForanSuon debuts a new line of 3D printed ceramic artwork at Bellevue Arts Museum Fair, the largest, award-winning arts & crafts festival in the Northwest. The Seattle based design team returns to BAM Artsfair as a recipient of the Carol Duke Award of Excellence in 2018.

Finding the intersection between fine art, design, ceramics, architecture, craft, and technology, the duo presents a modern arrangement of porcelain and selections from their black “Panther Collection.” Their work references and draws inspiration from nature, pattern, textiles, historical pottery, and figural sculpture.

“These 3D-printed porcelain vessels pop with color and texture — and originality. Made in Seattle and finished with a glazed interior, they’re perfect for use indoors to hold succulents or tealights,or bring them outside for a dinner party centerpiece.” – Seattle Times: Top Gift Guide, 2018

Studio Visit: ForanSuon -- Vetri by Jacob Foran

foransuon_72932-2.jpg

By Vetri Gallery

“Here at Vetri the holidays are known as Ornament season. Each year we display handmade ornaments from at least 50 artists, and customers return year after year to add to their collections.

This year we were particularly excited for a new and inventive set of ornaments by Jacob Foran and Phirak Suon of ForanSuon. They have developed bell-shaped ornaments using their innovative ceramic 3D printing method. We visited their studio in the SODO neighborhood of Seattle to learn more about their process.

The design for this year’s ceramic ornaments came from classic holiday iconography that relates to designs that the duo is already producing. The result is a simple bell form accentuated with surface patterns made by the coiling 3D printer. The basic geometry of the form and its complex texture are digitally drawn using CAD software (Computer Aided Design). That code is then converted to fit the specific ceramic plotter which extrudes porcelain exactly according to the digital design. Jacob and Phirak have modified the porcelain clay body so the fluidity and structure are just right for their particular printer. Finally, the pieces go through a series of glazes and firings. The result is a beautiful ornament that combines the styles of hand and machine made.

You can find a small selection of their ornaments on our website and a larger selection in our gallery throughout the holidays. For remote inquiries, call or email the gallery  and visit ForanSuon’s artist page here to browse their other 3D printed works.”
